Servo Motor
ARC Systems, Inc. was founded in 1967 to provide the aerospace industry with a dependable source for high-precision motors and AC components. To meet the needs of this demanding market,ARC developed a unique team philosophy: to be a fully integrated, completely self-sufficient facility.
AC Servo motors are electrical motors driven by alternating current. The stator, which is stationary, has coils wound physically at right angles, which produce a magnetic field which in turn provides torque to the rotor.
ARC's complete line of AC Servo Motors is designed to meet the requirements of MIL-S-22432 and SAE ARP-497. These two phase AC Servo Motors range from size 8 to 23. These miniature squirrel cage motors operate at 60 Hz. or 400 Hz. and are available in 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12 pole designs. Custom units that operate at other frequencies are available.

ARC's High Response AC Servo Motors are designed to meet the demanding performance and reliability requirements of the motion control industry. ARC Systems, Inc. supplies hundred of motor products for military, commercial, aerospace, and industry. Our motors frequently incorporate feedback sensors such as tachometers or brakes. Gear Heads can be combined for high-torque actuation systems. ARC offers exceptionally adaptable motor designs.

Two Phase AC Servo Motors:
Two phase servo motors are wound with 2 coil phases in a laminated stack. One phase is known as the Fixed Phase (or Main Phase) where the winding is excited by a fixed voltage. The second phase is known as the Control Phase. The control phase is excited by a variable voltage.
Two Phase Servo motors are an integral part of a closed-loop feedback control system. These motors are automatic devices that use error-sensing feedback to correct the performance of a mechanism. These motors are used when accurate response characteristics are required. The output torque of these motors is roughly proportional to the applied control voltage. The polarity of the control voltage also determines the torque direction. To achieve these characteristics these motors have low inertia rotor assemblies to achieve fast starts, stops and reversals. High resistance squirrel cage rotors are also used to provide these motors with approximately linear speed-torque outputs.
ARC Systems, Inc. is a world class designer and manufacturer of AC Servo motors. ARC is committed to producing the highest quality components at competitive prices, delivered on time. We have a vast library of proven designs along with a broad base of frame sizes and configurations for each product line.
We have designed hundreds of motors that are used for the military. Most of the NSN (National Stock Numbers) available can be located at:

Military motors are able to operate at a range of speeds without the risk of overheating, provided certain adjustments are made. Newer motors have a separate fan mounted to provide optimum cooling. This fan is powered by a constant voltage source to maintain a maximum RPM count at all times, regardless of the servo motor speed. ARC Systems has all the knowledge required for designing these types of complex actuation systems.
Motor Rotor Castings
ARC Systems, Inc. offers High Performance Squirrel Cage Rotor Castings available as raw castings or machined on a shaft. ARC's unique casting technique allows these custom fabricated rotor castings to be manufactured using various types of alloys.
Rotor Castings Presentation
Designed with High Energy Magnetic Laminations, these components exceed the most rigid performance requirements. Our rotors are stacked and skewed utilizing highly designed stacking tools and skew fixtures. ARC's in house machining capabilities enable us to grind/machine rotor castings to any required size and tolerance. Speed and torque are tailored to individual requirements by changing the rotor bar and end ring conductivity.
