AC Induction motors are motors where power is supplied to the rotating device (rotor assembly) by means of electromagnetic induction. The induction motor is the industries work horse. These motors are the preferred choice for many industries due to their rugged construction and absence of brushes. ARC’s complete line of AC induction motors are manufactured using squirrel cage rotors utilizing both aluminum and copper bars. The Three Phase Induction Motor is designed to operate from a three-phase source of alternating voltage. The stator is a classic three phase stator with the winding displaced by 120°. The motor's windings can be connected to a 3-phase AC line in two different ways: wye, where the windings are connected from phases of the supply to the neutral; or delta, where the windings are connected between phases of the supply. ARC Systems, Inc. designs both types.
400 HZ induction motors utilize 400 HZ power sources mainly found in the aerospace industry. These motors can be either single phase or three phase. Since 400 HZ motor have over 6 times the frequency of a 60 HZ motor, they also have over 6 times the speed. These high speeds make it possible to produce motors with much higher power in the same package size.
ARC Systems High Performance Squirrel Cage Induction Motors are designed with High Energy Magnetic Laminations which exceed the most rigid performance requirements. Our unique casting technique allows custom fabricated rotor castings to be manufactured tailoring to specific requirements. We use class H insulation system to meet extreme environmental conditions. Other features that are offered include a high-efficiency cooling fan, high temperature grease, and built-in Thermistors for temperature monitoring. We also offer rustproof stators and rotors. Permanently greased bearings can also be supplied when required. Different lamination material can also be used for high power density and high efficiency.
Build to print or custom motors are our specialty. ARC also offers a complete line of single phase AC induction motors. In a single phase induction motor, it is necessary to provide a starting circuit to start rotation of the rotor. The auxiliary winding of a permanent-split capacitor motor has a capacitor in series with it during starting and running. A capacitor-start induction motor only has a capacitor in series with the auxiliary winding during starting. A capacitor-run motor typically has a large non-polarized electrolytic capacitor in series with the auxiliary winding for starting, then a smaller non-electrolytic capacitor during running.
AC Induction Motors
Many different motor types are offered. Sub-Fractional Horsepower motors use squirrel-cage rotors. These rotors are made up of bars of either solid copper (most common) or aluminum that span the length of the rotor, and are connected through a ring at each end. The rotor bars are not straight, but have some skew to reduce noise and harmonics. Speed and torque can be tailored to individual requirements by changing the conductivity of the rotor bars. Custom units that operate at other frequencies are available.
Potting motors provides a sealed system for harsh environments. Our vacuum impregnation process provides better environmental and mechanical protection because all air and moisture contaminates are removed and all voids are filled. Designed with High Energy Magnetic Laminations, these components exceed the most rigid performance requirements.

The induction motors we manufacture go in many different applications such as Military, Aerospace, Oil Drilling, Medical, Elevator, Railroad, and for many other industries.
