Three Phase & 400 Hz AC Induction Motors

Three phase induction motors are motors where power is supplied to the rotating device (rotor assembly) by means of electromagnetic induction. The induction motor is the industries work horse. These motors are the preferred choice for many industries due to their rugged construction and absence of brushes.

ARCs complete line of three phase induction motors are manufactured using squirrel cage rotors utilizing both aluminum and copper bars. The three phase induction motor is designed to operate from a three-phase source of alternating voltage. The stator is a classic three phase stator with the winding displaced by 120.

The motor's windings can be connected to a 3-phase AC line in two different ways, where the windings are connected from phases of the supply to the neutral; or delta, where the windings are connected between phases of the supply. ARC Systems, Inc. designs both types.

AC Induction Motors For Various Industries

An AC induction motor is one of the two main types of AC motors. An AC motor is an electric motor powered by an alternating current, consisting of two basic parts: an outside stationary stator with coils supplied with AC to produce a rotating magnetic field, and an inside rotor attached to the output shaft that is given a torque by the rotating field. An AC induction (or asynchronous) motor relies on a small difference between the rotating magnetic field and the rotor to induce rotor current.

The series of 400 Hz AC motors manufactured by ARC Systems, Inc. are intended for aircraft applications utilizing 400 Hz power sources. Designed in accordance with military standards, 400 Hz AC motors are made suitable for use on both commercial and military aircraft. These motors are designed for operating conditions such as extreme cold, high heat, heavy moisture, high shock, strong vibration, high altitude, and space limitations and are available with any or all types of NEMA specifications , i.e., open frame or fan cooled construction, integral mounted generator, gear head, brake, and/or fan/blower. They are also available with various insulation systems, special mounting configurations, and special alloy construction.
